The 2027 Canadian ASL Open will take place in the capital city of beautiful New Brunswick, from May 14 – 16, 2027. The Open consists of five rounds spread over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The CASLO’s Inception and Evolution
Born from the mind and unyielding passion of the late Jim “The Hammer” McLeod, CASLO first made its mark in the ASL world in 1997. What started as a small gathering of ASL enthusiasts has, over the years, blossomed into Canada’s most prestigious and eagerly anticipated ASL event. Each year, it not only gathers players from across the nation, but also the USA and sometimes other parts of the world, offering a unique blend of intense competition and warm camaraderie.
Honouring Jim “The Hammer” McLeod’s Vision
Jim McLeod’s vision was simple yet profound – to unite Canadian ASL players, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and enhancing their skills and knowledge of the game. This vision remains the guiding star of CASLO.
The Canadian ASL Open promises an experience filled with thrilling competition, unforgettable memories, and the warmth of a community united by a shared passion. Join us and be part of the continuing story of the Canadian Advanced Squad Leader Open.
The Champion
We believe that an ASL Championship isn’t won by luck; it’s by skill and knowledge of the rules. To that end, we plan to offer a set of scenarios that are challenging and span the entirety of the ASL Rule Book. As such, each round will be themed:
- “Candygram for Mongo!” (Each scenario will include Demolition Charges)
- “Silent Night, Violent Night” (Night scenarios)
- “Fight or Flight!” (Planes are involved, be it close air, gliders, para drops, etc)
- “Wadi ya mean?” (Wadis, so desert scenarios)
- “Rumble in the Jungle” (PTO!)
We understand that for some players, the aim is to just play ASL. As such, we will have a list of alternate scenarios so that players can plan ahead and just focus on playing.
